  • Year 4

Year 4 visited St Mary & St Michael’s Church to learn all about the true meaning of Easter.

We were warmly welcomed by Rev’d Gary Evans and a group of parishioners, who led the children through various activities which commemorated the final week of Jesus’ life: from his entry into Jerusalem to his resurrection on Easter Sunday.

Thank you for a lovely morning – the children really enjoyed it 🙏.

This afternoon, a group of Year 4 children joined Helens Herbs to do some more work in the Margaret Ashcroft Memorial Garden.

Helen taught us how to plant some potatoes, onions and spinach, and how we should nurture and care for them over the coming weeks.

A hailstone shower then forced us inside to The Burrow! We learnt about different types of herbs and even got to sample some through both taste and smell! The children then planted some nasturtium seeds – edible flowers which are going to go in our greenhouse.

Many thanks for coming in again, Helen!

A group of Year 4 joined Friends of Egremont Castle to do some planting in the flowerbeds. The castle and its grounds are an important part of our town's heritage and at Bookwell we pride ourselves on helping to keep it clean, tidy and looking colourful!

Year 4 had a brilliant time visiting Walkmill! The day was packed with fun as we explored the site, enjoyed being out in nature, and took part in a range of exciting team building activities.
As part of our learning, we made fascinating links between the areas mining history and current efforts in nature restoration. We also gained a deeper understanding of local wildlife and their habitats and how important it is to protect them.
