Year 5 enjoying Beamish. The children took part in 'The Call to War' activity. They were split into groups of battalions. They were then given a task where they had to decide what had happened and why a 15 year old boy called Joseph had gone to war. We had to visit people who knew Joseph and gather information on what they think drove him to enlist as an underage soldier in 1914. They then had to discuss the decision as a whole group. The children really enjoyed this task.
The children also looked around the town which gave them a good insight on how people lived in the 1900s.
