Score, Slip and Blend

We experimented with air drying clay last week and discussed the problems and difficulties we had when using it. The biggest problem was pieces of clay that we had stuck on were breaking off easily. This week we were making diva lamps and we had to make a base and side and stick them together. Mrs McEwan showed us how to score, slip and blend. We made slip out of water and clay and mixed it until it was the consistency of cream. We then scored the areas of the clay that we were going to stick together, applied the slip to these areas and stuck the pieces together. After that, we blended the line where the clay met until it was smooth and had a strong bond. Don't they look super? We can't wait to paint them!
