Welcome to our Year 6 page. Here, you’ll find snippets of what we are getting up to in and out of class. Parents, remember there’s lots more to see on your child’s Seesaw.
West Lakes Careers Fair
Our Year 6 students had a great time at the West Lakes Careers Fair, organised by the Centre for Leadership Performance. This was a fantastic opportunity for the children to an explore a variety of local options while taking part in engaging mini activities.
Rugby with Egremont Rangers Youth
A huge thank you to Daniel Telford from Egremont Rangers Youth for leading a fantastic training session for our Y6 children. The session was also supported by Annie Fawcett, who recently signed with Barrow Raiders. The children had a brilliant time and gained some new skills.
3D Printing
Our Year 6 children have started exploring the exciting world of 3D design and printing. Using this technology, they created their own digital keyring and watched in amazement as their designs were brought to life. This hands-on experience gave them a glimpse into the future of design, engineering and innovation.
Times Tables Rock Stars - England Rocks
Today, Year 6 took part in ‘England Rocks’ - a national online times table competition. A great way to boost maths confidence, accuracy and recall speed, whilst also having fun!
Year 6 Guitarists
In Year 6, we have a group of budding musicians. They have lessons every Tuesday and are enjoying practising their instruments and developing their talents. Learning a musical instrument has many benefits: it improves the memory; stimulates creativity; teaches patience; boosts confidence and enhances social skills. The children hope to showcase their talents with a series of concerts throughout the school year. Stay tuned!
Switched On! Workshop
Today, Year 6 were visited by Ian from Electricity North West. He delivered a hands-on workshop called “Switched On!” The children learnt about electrical circuits, insulators/conductors and staying safe around electricity. They then had a go at building simple, series and parallel circuits, and recorded how the brightness of a lamp or the volume of a buzzer was affected by the number of cells used in the circuit. The various challenges inspired the children to become creative thinkers and confident problem solvers!
